Music - Finding the Steady Beat

Mrs. Haskett worked with us today on finding the "steady beat" or rhythm in songs and chants. We also were able to experiment with the triangle by playing the inside and outside of the instrument.

It's time for Art!

Mrs. Suzanne McClinton visited our class for the first time today as our new art teacher. She will be visiting PreK each Thursday morning with a new lesson. Today, we used our pincer muscles to tear paper into small bits to cover an apple. We also learned to use small amounts of liquid glue.

It's time for Music!

We are so lucky to have Mrs. Elizabeth Haskett as our music teacher for PreK this year! She's an excellent teacher that will work with the kids once a week on all sorts of music skills. This year she is adding a new piece of technology to our curriculum - Quaver. In fact, you will receive information on how to access this software from home. Today students worked on the following skills in music: clapping to rhythm, following directions, and answering questions from a story that was presented to them.

Centers Begin to Open

Staying in our color pods, centers began to open today. Students were able to play, share, and pick-up in Legos, puzzles, and housekeeping. I was so proud of how they handled themselves and followed directions. For only being in school one week, they did a remarkable job of transitioning from one activity to the next.

It's time for PE!

Welcome Coach Chris Griffith to the PreK staff at Fulbright! We are so lucky to have three specialists (PE, music, and art) joining us this year. Coach Griffith will be teaching The Lizards each Friday morning. Please remember to send your child in comofortable clothing and athletic shoes especially on Fridays so they can easily move in PE. Today we worked on basic locomotive skills (jumping, skipping, and galloping) while listening to music. It was a fun lesson!

Welcome Lizards! The Class of 2020-2021 has arrived. This year is a bit different with social distancing guidelines and wearing masks, but we are doing our best to adjust and have fun in PreK!
