We had great fun today making green oobleck. Oobleck is a simple mixture of cornstarch, water, and food coloring. Better known as slime, it has the unique ability to turn from a solid to a liquid in your hand within seconds. We made a huge mess, but had a lot of fun!
Aaron Reynolds, author of Chicks and Salsa and other popular children's books, spoke to the PreK this afternoon. He read to them Chicks and Salsa and encouraged them to join along with spirited outbursts - Ole! Autographed copies of his books could be pre-purchased a few weeks ago through Ms.Cantrell in the media center.
That wasn't the case in our class today, The Lizards loved Green Eggs and Ham and a majority asked for a second helping. Dr. Seuss celebration week has begun!!!!
Aaaaargh maties! We completed our week by celebrating the letter "P" and dressing as pirates. No pirate would be complete without an eye patch and parrot, so we made both. What a fun day!
About 4 weeks ago during our Awesome Animal unit, I asked all the kids to bring a teddy bear so we could learn about hibernation. On Thursday morning, Ms. Gomillion and I started hearing rumblings coming from the cave we built in our room. We decided it was time to peek inside the cave. Sure enough, all our bears were stretching, yawning, and moving around. The kids were so excited to reunite with their teddy bears!
