Socktober

This is the last week to donate socks for our Socktober Drive at Fulbright! We'd love any new or gently worn socks.

Storytelling with Ms. Kirk (Asher's mom)

We were very lucky this morning to have Asher's mom (aka, Ms. Jessica) read us a few books that correspond with our latest themes in the classroom. If you have free time and would like to read the class a book, please let me know. It's a great way for you to volunteer with The Lizards. Also, I'd like to share a special note from Ms. Jessica who works for the Arkansas State Library - Anyone in Arkansas has access to digital databases from the state library even without a library card. All resources are located here: https://www.library.arkansas.gov/resources/traveler-statewide-resources-by-subject/. There's a wide selection of materials for students of all ages and for grown-ups, so please take a look. Of particular interest to us, is World Book Early Learning: https://www.worldbookonline.com/wbel/#/home. There's no cost and it's free of ads. The words are read out loud with a mouse scroll over and there is a new section at the top for some early learning basics. It includes digital letter tracing activities. I hope y'all find it useful!

Socktober

It's not too late to donate socks to Fulbright's Socktober Drive! You have one more week to donate new or gently used socks for our unsheltered friends of Pulaski County. Plus, The Lizards love giving and lending a helping hand!

Art - Spider Webs

Mrs. McClinton read the book, Walter's Wonderful Web to the class. Walter spun various shaped webs (square, circle, triangle, rectangle, rhombus) in order to withstand the wind. After reading the book, Mrs. McClinton challenged the students to use diffenet shapes to design their own spider web. The kids created some very cool drawings.

Music - Learning to play the Djembe

The Lizards had a fun time learning more about one of West Africa's best know instrument - the Djembe. The Djembe is a goblet-shaped drum traditionally carved from a single piece of African hardwood and topped with an animal skin as a drumhead. It makes two unique sounds depending on where you strike the head with your hand.
